La Mexicana

I had the absolute best experience here! They have excellent vegetarian options and can adapt the dishes to suit vegetarians and vegans. We enjoyed the quesadillas, chimichangas, and burrito bowl. The nachos and drinks were also delicious. We ended our meal with churros and carrot cake which were both tasty as well. The atmosphere was full of joy, colour, and community spirit. Our server Pepe was so professional, friendly, and helpful. The live music was the cherry on top! It filled the restaurant with so much energy and happiness. Overall, I had such a memorable experience. I also learned that this restaurant has existed for over 40 years and I can't believe this was my first time visiting. I will most definitely be back!

My wife & I discovered this restaurant many years ago and have enjoyed the food & atmosphere there a number of times over the past several decades. It never disappoints, and last night was no exception. We had made arrangements to meet some good, life-long friends there for supper. The last time we were there together was in 2008! Yes, we had changed somewhat and the interior of the restaurant had changed too, but what had not changed was the warm ambience, the super-friendly service, and the awesomely delicious food! The place was not super busy on a Wednesday night and the owners graciously allowed up to spend several hours there, catching up on each other’s lives, enjoying delicious fajitas, burritos, chimichangas, empanadas, and a signature house specialty seafood stew with a huge piece of lobster tail called Mariscos al Guajillo, all washed down with a refreshing shared pitcher of red sangria. And these folks know that you eat with your eyes first! When the dishes came to the table, they were so colourfully and tastefully displayed that we just had to take pictures of them! Such a delightful evening spent with friends and good food on a chilly winter’s night! The owner even obliged us by taking some photos of us all together with our plates in front of us. Sincere thanks to the delightful owners of La Mexicana for such a wonderful dining experience! May you remain in business for many more years because we plan on being back again soon. Looking forward to a summer evening on your outdoor patio again like we had several years ago! We would highly recommend this restaurant! They obviously take great pride in their place and their home-cooked food, and go out of their way with service. Please try them! You will not be disappointed!

We had a very good time at The LA Mexicana on 3337 Bathurst street. Pepe our host was great. The drinks, food and desserts were super delicious. Live music was great fun and added to the ambience.

Great experience and authentic home made Mexican food! Had the chimichangas with chicken were a highlight, beef Flautas were also excellent! Deep fried ice cream was a fun experience too!Will be back for the live music in the evenings on Saturday!

My family and I really enjoyed our experience and the food. The service was great - everyone working there was so kind. The food was great, what I really appreciated the authentic Mexican food but unlike a lot of places they included sides like guacamole, pico de gallo or sour cream with the meals. This place was recommended to me and I am definitely going back!

I ordered the beef birria tacos, and let me just say absolutely delicious. The beef was tender, juicy, and packed with rich, slow-cooked flavor. The tortillas were perfectly crisped, and when dipped into that savory consomé. Pure comfort in every bite. Even better everyone at the table loved what they ordered. Not a single disappointment, just genuine satisfaction all around. That says a lot about the consistency and quality of the kitchen. It was our first time coming to this restaurant. We were welcomed by two very polite and friendly young men. The service was excellent. The atmosphere was simple and cozy. The churros were freshly served and the coffee was great. Overall, it was a really good experience for us. The menu was also nice, and we’ll definitely come back next time to try the food.

La Mexicana was by far one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to. Pepe was so kind and took care of everything we needed. I ordered the Mariscos al Guajillo, and it was the best meal I’ve had in a while. I’ve never enjoyed a meal as much as I did this one, and I finished every last bit. The atmosphere was beautiful and I will definitely be coming back here more often!! Thank you so much for the amazing experience!
